Smeltzer made his MLB debut last week and it couldn't have gone better, as he blanked the Brewers on three hits over six dazzling innings. The 23-year-old lefty struck out seven and didn't walk a batter.

Bieber will look to get back on track after a shaky outing in Boston on Wednesday. The right-hander allowed six runs on eight hits -- including three homers -- through five frames, but still secured the win as the offense knocked in 14 runs.

Perez will hope to get back to his winning ways vs. the Tribe after he was touched for six runs on six hits during just 2 2/3 innings against the Rays. June is his time to shine, though: He has a 9-1 record in 13 appearances (12 starts) in the month.

Carlos Carrasco, who was slated to make tonight’s start against the Twins, was placed on the 10-day injured list ahead of the game with a non-baseball medical condition. The Indians will use reliever Clippard as an opener instead.

Berrios is fresh off a quality start against the Rays during which he allowed just three runs and struck out eight over 6 2/3 innings. The right-hander is 4-2 with a 4.00 ERA in eight career starts vs. the Tribe.

Bauer and manager Terry Francona thought the hurler was back to his old self last time out on Friday, but it was tough to tell from the scorecard, as the Indians played their worst defensive game of the season. Bauer gave up six runs -- but only two earned -- on nine hits through seven frames.

Pineda, who missed the Twins' last eight games with right knee tendinitis, comes off the 10-day injured list to make his 12th start of the season.

Though Boyd has held the Twins to a .208 average for his career, they’ve had success against him thanks to 14 home runs in 15 starts the past three years, including five in as many meetings en route to three wins over him last season.

Gibson dealt with traffic on the basepaths and an elevated pitch count against the Rays in his last start but allowed only one unearned run on six hits in five innings as he was effective for the second straight start and lowered his ERA to 3.75.

Farmer will make his first start of the season after appearing in 29 games out of the bullpen. In four relief appearances against the Twins this year, the 28-year-old has fanned four over 2 2/3 innings.
