PITTSBURGH – Angels star center fielder Mike Trout escaped injury on Saturday night when he was hit on the left hand by a pitch in the ninth inning of a 6-1 victory over the Pirates at PNC Park.
Trout was removed for pinch-runner Jose Siri after being struck by Yohan Ramírez’s pitch. The 12-time All-Star was 2-for-4 with one run and one run scored as the Angels won for the second time in their last 12 games.
Trout, 35, is slashing .241/.376/.422 with 20 home runs and 51 RBIs in 123 games this season. He is expected to be in the lineup on Sunday for the rubber match of the three-game series.
