As if facing Blake Snell and his almost unhittable arsenal wasn't enough, the Dodgers also had to contend with the Texas wildlife in their quest to win their first World Series since 1988.

With the Rays' ace absolutely dealing against L.A. in Tuesday's must-win World Series Game 6, reigning NL MVP Award winner Cody Bellinger stepped to the plate in the bottom of the fifth inning representing the tying run.

While Bellinger was probably trying to figure out if Snell would throw a fastball or a changeup or a slider, a soaring beast from the skies suddenly flew into view.

Whether it was a wasp swooping in to attack, or merely a moth who wanted to come say what's up, Bellinger recoiled in surprise. He then loaded up a swing and, well, missed:

Who knows what would have happened if this creature brought a few dozen of his buddies with him. It didn't work out well when a bunch of midges rattled Joba Chamberlain in the 2007 ALDS:

Though Bellinger whiffed on the bug, he did make contact on Snell's 2-2 offering ... before grounding out to first base.

Of course, this moth appeared just one inning before Snell was lifted from the game and the Dodgers scored two runs against reliever Nick Anderson to take a 2-1 lead. So maybe it was actually an omen of good fortune for Los Angeles -- like he was their own little Mothman.
