Dodgers awaiting results of Puig's MRI

Jansen slated for another rehab outing; Ryu shuts down throwing

LOS ANGELES -- The update on Dodgers right fielder Yasiel Puig's strained left hamstring Monday was that there was no update.

When he had his pregame briefing with the media, manager Don Mattingly said Puig was undergoing his MRI at the same time and would be seen by a doctor, which means the Dodgers are unlikely to say anything more about it until Tuesday at the same time.

Puig suffered a setback Friday playing in a rehab game for Class A Advanced Rancho Cucamonga.

Meanwhile, the plan for right-hander Kenley Jansen (left foot surgery) is getting clearer.

Mattingly said the Dodgers closer will make one more rehab appearance Wednesday, "and we'll just go from there.

"After Wednesday, we'll know where he's at, where we're at."

Jansen saved 44 games in 2014 and 28 the year before.

Mattingly has already told Jansen he won't be used in Major League save situations immediately, and the manager said Jansen was receptive to that plan.

"We'll try to get him in a situation that he can be comfortable at this level," Mattingly said.

• Outfielder Chris Heisey was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City after the Dodgers' 5-3 victory over the Marlins on Monday night, a move to make room to activate right-hander Mike Bolsinger for the start Tuesday.

• Left-hander Hyun-Jin Ryu (shoulder) has shut down his throwing program for the time being. "I wouldn't call it indefinitely," Mattingly said. "He felt some stiffness last week. He's doing everything but throwing, but I expect him to be throwing soon."

• Right-hander Brandon Beachy (elbow) threw three simulated innings in the bullpen Monday. Mattingly said it was a positive sign, but added the Dodgers weren't going to rush Beachy, 28, into a rehab assignment, because of his history of two Tommy John surgeries (June 2012, March 2014).

• Three-time Kentucky Derby-winning jockey Victor Espinoza will throw out the ceremonial first pitch before Tuesday's game against the Marlins.
