Stiff wrist won't slow Jansen in pennant chase

September 17th, 2016

PHOENIX -- Dodgers closer has been dealing with mild right wrist inflammation, but that didn't stop him from striking out the side in the ninth inning of Saturday night's 6-2 Dodgers win over the D-backs.
Jansen said Friday night he would be fine and continue pitching despite the mild stiffness, which resulted in the closer wearing a removable brace on the wrist when he's not at the ballpark.
Manager Dave Roberts said before Saturday night's game that he wasn't concerned and noted that Jansen's velocity lately has actually increased to top out at 97 mph.
Jansen notched his 45th save Friday night, a career high, and second-most in MLB.

Roberts said , who allowed one run in five innings of a rehab start for Oklahoma City Friday night, would meet the club back in Los Angeles and probably be activated next week. Roberts would not say if Anderson would start or relieve when he returns. Because of back surgery and a blister, Anderson has been limited to two starts for the Dodgers this year.
, out since Aug. 22 with thoracic irritation, is with OKC and will make a rehab start Sunday, if that playoff series is still going.
