Dodgers shake up Minor League staffs

LOS ANGELES -- One season after a dramatic front-office makeover, the Dodgers are making Minor League staff changes.

Among those whose contracts will not be renewed are Triple-A Oklahoma City manager Damon Berryhill, who was named manager of the year in the Pacific Coast League earlier this month, and Double-A Tulsa manager Razor Shines.

In addition to Berryhill and Shines, staff not invited back are Oklahoma City hitting coach Franklin Stubbs, Class A Great Lakes pitching coach Glenn Dishman, Arizona Rookie League manager Jack McDowell, instructor Rick Rhoden, Great Lakes coach Angel Sanchez, Rookie-level Ogden hitting coach Darryl Brinkley and instructor Erik Bedard. 

"All our Minor League staff put forth a tremendous effort in 2015, and we appreciate all their work and dedication," said Gabe Kapler, Dodgers director of player development. "At this moment in time, we wanted to bring in some new voices in some key areas. Our changes should not be viewed as a reflection on any performance; they simply reflect that we are heading in a different direction."

No replacements have been named.

The changes on the Minor League side come roughly one month after the club reorganized its international scouting department, resulting in the loss of about a dozen jobs, including that of vice president of international scouting Bob Engle.

Last October, the Dodgers hired Andrew Friedman from Tampa Bay as president of baseball operations. An executive overhaul followed that included the hirings of general manager Farhan Zaidi, Josh Byrnes as senior vice president of baseball operations, David Finley as vice president of amateur scouting, Galen Carr as director of player personnel, Billy Gasparino as director of amateur scouting and Kapler as director of player development.
