White Sox No. 1 prospect Bonemer has a grand time during four-hit game at Double-A

Caleb Bonemer not only delivered his first Double-A homer in grand fashion, he did it on a career afternoon.

MLB’s No. 13 prospect had a huge day at the dish, going 4-for-5 with a grand slam in Double-A Birmingham's 10-5 victory over Knoxville on Sunday at Regions Field. The four-hit performance was Bonemer's first four-hit game of the season and the second of his professional career.

White Sox No. 1 prospect started his day by chopping an RBI double down the third-base line against right-hander Keon Moreno (Cubs). After flying out in the third, Bonemer roped another double in the fifth, lacing a 3-2 fastball from Erian Rodriguez (CHC No. 21) off the top of the wall in left.

Bonemer's biggest swing of the afternoon came one inning later. With the bases loaded in the sixth, the 20-year-old won a six-pitch battle against right-hander Kenyi Perez, turning on an 85 mph slider and sending it into the first row in left for his first homer in 11 Double-A games.

The grand slam was Bonemer's 19th dinger of the season. That’s tied with Jacob Gonzalez (CWS No. 23) for the most in the White Sox system and tied for the second-most hit by a 20-year-old in the Minors this year, per FanGraphs.

This season, Bonemer has tormented righties. He sports a .953 OPS in 214 at-bats against righties between High-A and Double-A.

To close out the afternoon, the 2024 second-round pick settled for a single, rocketing a 95 mph fastball to left off southpaw Marino Santy.

Bonemer has been one of the most productive players in the White Sox organization this season. Along with leading the system in dingers, he ranks in the top 10 in extra-base hits (37, first), hits (65, fifth), OPS (.917, fifth) and walks (45, tied for fifth).

MLB.com's top third-base prospect signed for well over slot for $2,997,500 after the Draft. In his debut season in 2025, he made a strong first impression at Single-A, slashing 281/.400/.458 with 10 homers and 27 steals en route to winning Carolina League MVP honors. A little over halfway through the 2026 season, and Bonemer looks to be one-upping that impressive debut performance.
