PHOENIX -- The D-backs belted four home runs off Kenta Maeda, two by Yasmany Tomas, and pulled away to an 11-5 win over the Dodgers Saturday night at Chase Field.
Jake Lamb and Tomas went back-to-back in the first inning, Chris Herrmann slugged a two-run shot in the fourth and Tomas added a second solo blast in the fifth off Maeda (1-2) as the D-backs improved to 8-1 at Chase Field for their best start at home in franchise history. Prior to this season, the club's best start at home was 7-1, set in 2008.
"I thought that was a special night for us, offensively," D-backs manager Torey Lovullo said. "A couple of home runs by Yasmany, a big home run by Herrmann and really, the big home run that really got us started by Jake Lamb."

Maeda has allowed seven homers in 19 innings this season while posting an 8.05 ERA. David Peralta missed a first-inning homer by inches off Maeda, who last year allowed 20 homers in 175 2/3 innings.
"It's just mislocation," Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said of Maeda's struggles. "They've got a good fastball-hitting team. It's important to locate for any pitcher, especially Kenta. Tonight, he was out over the heart of the plate and up in the zone."

Peralta, whose third double came in a three-run seventh inning, set a club record with his fourth in the eighth.
"You talk about setting a record offensively," Lovullo added, "David Peralta certainly had a special night with four doubles to set a franchise record."

The Dodgers have lost four straight against the D-backs and five of their last six overall, falling to two games below .500 for the first time this season. Although the Dodgers scored five runs off D-backs starter Robbie Ray, they are 3-7 in games started by opposing left-handed pitchers.
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Ray's best friend: Protecting a 3-1 lead in the third inning, Ray allowed the first three batters to reach base as the Dodgers pulled within a run, but the D-backs lefty minimized the damage when he got Yasiel Puig to bounce into a double play on a 3-0 pitch and Scott Van Slyke to pop up on the first pitch. Puig, who was batting cleanup, is 3-for-28 with one RBI against left-handers this year.
D-backs hold off LA's last charge: Trailing, 6-2, the Dodgers rallied for three runs in the sixth inning, but J.J. Hoover struck out Justin Turner with the bases loaded to keep the D-backs on top by a run.
"I thought we gave ourselves a chance to get back in the game, get a lead," said Roberts. "Those guys are swinging well, playing well. We're frustrated right now, but we've got a long way to go." 

AFTER FURTHER REVIEW
In an ironic twist, Peralta's doubles record almost didn't happen, as his first drive was a ball off the center-field wall near the yellow line to the right of the batter's eye in the first inning. The umpires called for a review to make sure the ball hadn't struck above the line for a homer. The original call was confirmed and Peralta had to settle for his first of four doubles.

The Dodgers challenged a third-out call at first base in the sixth inning after Adrian Gonzalez's grounder to shortstop. After a brief review, the call was overturned and Gonzalez was safe with Van Slyke scoring from third base for the second run of L.A.'s three-run rally.

The last Major Leaguer to smack four doubles in a game was Brock Holt, for the Red Sox on June 1, 2014, at Fenway Park vs. the Rays. The last National Leaguer to do it was Jeff Baker of the Rockies, at Wrigley Field against the Cubs on May 30, 2008.

WHAT'S NEXT
Dodgers: With Arizona starting a right-handed pitcher, shortstop Corey Seager, first baseman Gonzalez, left fielder Alvin Toles and catcher Yasmani Grandal are likely to return after being omitted from Saturday night's starting lineup against Ray. Brandon McCarthy gets the call in the 1:10 p.m. PT series finale, his third career start against his former club.
D-backs: The D-backs, seeking a series sweep and their fifth straight win against the Dodgers, will call on right-hander Shelby Miller, who has two wins already this season and can match his 2016 output of three on Sunday. First pitch is scheduled for 1:10 p.m. MST.
