Dodgers recall Edwin Uceta

LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Dodgers recalled right-handed pitcher Edwin Uceta and placed infielder Edwin Ríos on the injured list with right shoulder inflammation.

Uceta, 23, made his Major League debut on Friday, tossing 2.0 innings, allowing two runs with two strikeouts, and suffering the loss. The Dominican Republic native has been with the Dodgers organization since signing as international free agent on July 2, 2016. In parts of four minor league seasons, he has posted a 20-12 record with a 3.73 ERA (137 ER/331.0 IP) and 362 strikeouts.

Ríos, 27, appeared in 25 games for the Dodgers, recording four hits in 51 at bats. He was part of the 2020 World Championship roster, hitting .250 with six doubles, eight homers and 17 RBI in 32 regular season games. In the postseason, he contributed with two homers and three RBI, appearing in four games, all four Dodger wins. In parts of three seasons with the Dodgers, he has hit .207 (36-for-174) with 13 homers and 26 RBI. The Caguas, Puerto Rico native was originally drafted by the Dodgers in the sixth round of the 2015 First Year Player Draft out Florida International University.
