Marlins announce 2014 Opening Day roster

MIAMI - The Miami Marlins today announced their 2014 Opening Day 25-man roster.

The Club will open the season carrying 12 pitchers, two catchers, seven infielders and four outfielders for their Opening Night game tomorrow at Marlins Park vs. the Colorado Rockies at 7:05 pm.

The 25-man roster is as follows:

PITCHERS (12): RHP Henderson Alvarez, RHP Steve Cishek, LHP Mike Dunn, RHP Nathan Eovaldi, RHP Jose Fernandez, LHP Brad Hand, LHP Dan Jennings, RHP Tom Koehler, RHP Carlos Marmol, RHP A.J. Ramos, RHP Kevin Slowey, RHP Jacob Turner.

CATCHERS (2): Jeff Mathis, Jarrod Saltalamacchia.

INFIELDERS (7): Jeff Baker, Derek Dietrich, Greg Dobbs, Adeiny Hechavarria, Garrett Jones, Casey McGehee, Donovan Solano.

OUTFIELDERS (4): Reed Johnson, Marcell Ozuna, Giancarlo Stanton, Christian Yelich.

15-DAY DL (2): INF Rafael Furcal (left hamstring strain, retro to March 21), INF Ed Lucas (non-displaced fracture in left hand , retro to March 28).

The following transactions were made today to set the Opening Day roster: Rafael Furcal and Ed Lucas placed on the 15-day DL; Reed Johnson and Kevin Slowey selected; Michael Brady and Brian Bogusevic designated for assignment.
