2013 MLB Schedule Released

The 2012 pennant races are in full swing, but there is already a reason for MLB fans to get excited for next season. Today, the 2013 MLB team schedules were released. Click HERE to see the complete schedule. Here are some of the more interesting matchups that fans should keep an eye out for:

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim vs. Cincinnati Reds – April 1st (Opening Day)

o This will mark the first time in MLB history where there will be an interleague game on Opening Day.

San Diego Padres vs. New York Mets and Boston Red Sox vs. New York Yankees – April 1st (Opening Day)

o This will be the first time that both the Mets and Yankees open their seasons at home on the same day.

Texas Rangers vs. Houston Astros – April 2nd

o This is going to be the Astros' American League debut. I am sure the Rangers would love to ruin this debut for them.

Washington Nationals vs. Baltimore Orioles – May 27th-30th

o This Beltway Series will see each league’s 2012 Cinderella teams face off. In this four-game set, the first two games will be in Baltimore and the last two will be in D.C.

St. Louis Cardinals vs. Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim – July 2nd-4th

o These will be the first games that Albert Pujols will play against his old team. A Halos trip to St. Louis would have been more exciting, but this lays the groundwork for that to happen in the near future.

New York Yankees vs. Los Angeles Dodgers July 30th-31st

o This will be the second meeting of the year between these two storied teams. These two franchises have played against each other in 11 World Series, with the Yankees taking 8 of them.

Boston Red Sox vs. San Francisco Giants – August 19th-21st

o This will be a rematch of the 1912 World Series when the Boston Red Sox defeated the then New York Giants.

Philadelphia Phillies vs. Atlanta Braves – September 26th – 29th

o This four-game set could determine the winner of the NL East. However, I’m sure the Nationals will try to make this series moot.

Detroit Tigers vs. Miami Marlins – September 29th

o This will mark the first time in MLB history where there will be an interleague game on the last day of the regular season.
