Achilles injury cancels Watkins' season
Infielder to miss 2015 campaign after tearing tendon during workout
The 2015 season is over before it could begin for young Cubs infielder Logan Watkins. The 25-year-old took to Twitter to announce that he had sustained a torn Achillies tendon during a workout on Wednesday.
"Hard to put into words how sad I am that I won't be a part of the great season the Cubs are prepared to have," Watkins said.
A few hours later, he tweeted again.
"Thanks for all the positivity," Watkins said. "First time anything like this has ever happened to me so still kinda shocked. But the support helps a lot."

He got a taste of the Major Leagues in each of the past two seasons, hitting .233 with a home run and six RBIs in 103 at-bats. At Triple-A Iowa in 2014, he hit .256/.327/.364 in 103 games.
Watkins won Cubs Minor League Player of the Year honors in 2012 after hitting .281/.383/.422 at the Double-A level, and he was added to Chicago's 40-man roster. He was just removed in December.
