AFL announces 2012 schedule

Opening Day for 20th anniversary season is Oct. 9

PHOENIX, Ariz. -- Director Steve Cobb announces the 2012 Arizona Fall League schedule showcasing six teams comprised of many of Major League Baseball's top prospects from every MLB organization. The league plays Mon-Sat at six Maricopa County Spring Training stadiums during the six weeks prior to Thanksgiving.

Opening Day for the Fall League's 20th anniversary season is Tue, Oct.9. The league culminates with its annual championship game on Sat, Nov. 17 at Scottsdale Stadium. The popular Rising Stars Game is scheduled for Sat, Nov. 3 at Salt River Fields at Talking Stick.

Game times are 12:35 p.m. and 6:35 p.m. (exceptions noted).

Venues for 2012 remain the same:
Mesa Hohokam Stadium (Mesa Solar Sox)
Peoria Sports Complex (Peoria Javelinas)
Phoenix Municipal Stadium (Phoenix Desert Dogs)
Salt River Fields at Talking Stick (defending champion Salt River Rafters)
Scottsdale Stadium (Scottsdale Scorpions)
Surprise Stadium (Surprise Saguaros).

The organizational assignments and composite and team schedules are listedbelow.

East Division
Mesa Solar Sox: Astros, Cubs, Dodgers, Orioles, Tigers
Salt River Rafters: Blue Jays, D-backs, Nationals, Rockies, White Sox
Scottsdale Scorpions: Angels, Giants, Indians, Pirates, Yankees.

West Division
Peoria Javelinas: Mariners, Padres, Phillies, Reds, Twins
Phoenix Desert Dogs: Athletics, Braves, Brewers, Marlins, Rays
Surprise Saguaros: Cardinals, Mets, Rangers, Red Sox, Royals.
