After day off, Gattis returns to starting lineup

BOSTON -- Braves catcher Evan Gattis was back in the lineup Wednesday night after being scratched Tuesday night just prior to the game with a strained right wrist.

Gattis began feeling discomfort during batting practice Tuesday, but he took some swings off a tee prior to Atlanta's first of two games at Fenway Park. He then took swings in the cage and was added to the lineup about 90 minutes before first pitch.

Gerald Laird was originally set to catch and bat eighth, but Gattis caught and hit fifth. Ryan Doumit was the designated hitter and batted sixth.

"It was weird. I've never had a wrist injury before, so I just took precaution, but it feels good," said Gattis, who added that the injury came out of nowhere.
