Ailing shoulder continues to hamper Jones

TORONTO -- Adam Jones was not in Sunday's starting lineup for the fourth time in six games, as he continues to deal with a nagging right shoulder injury that has kept him from playing center field since Monday.

"He's a little sore today, which now makes me wonder. ... It's not from the swings. It's from the activity, diving into the base," manager Buck Showalter said. "I thought that he would make a jump forward [going into Sunday]. So I want to take the benefit of a full day today and [Monday with the off-day] and see what we got Tuesday."

Since the injury, the Orioles have been optimistic Jones would be able to avoid the disabled list, though it's becoming more of a concern every day he's on the bench.

"We had four options when we went there [with the injury], and one of them was that," Showalter said of the DL. "Didn't feel like, getting feedback from Adam, I think we really want to see how he feels Tuesday and get our arms around where we really are with it."
