After extending hit streak, Escobar exits with injury

CHICAGO -- Alcides Escobar extended his hitting streak to 11 games with an eighth-inning double on Friday, but he exited the 7-2 Royals victory almost immediately after reaching second.

Escobar was replaced by Pedro Ciriaco because of what Escobar believed to be a left calf cramp.

Royals manager Ned Yost said he did not know at first if Escobar had sustained a strain or pull of the calf, but he did not believe the injury to be serious.

"He thought it was a cramp. We'll come in, if he feels any tightness in there tomorrow, probably give him a day off," Yost said. "But if not, we'll roll him out there."
