Tigers add infield depth with Casilla swap

The Tigers and Rays worked out a Minor League trade that sent veteran infielder Alexi Casilla to Detroit for a player to be named later.

In his debut with the organization on Monday, Casilla went 1-for-3 for Triple-A Toledo vs. his former Durham Bulls teammates.

Casilla, 30, has hit .247 in nine Major League seasons with Minnesota and Baltimore. Over 38 games with Durham and Toledo this year, he has hit .315.

Casilla has played second base, shortstop and third base in the Majors.
