All eight NCAA Super Regional matchups set

All eight NCAA Super Regional matchups set

The NCAA Super Regionals were set Monday night, and thanks to some late-inning drama in Raleigh, N.C., the North Carolina State State Wolfpack became one of five teams to seal a spot in the Round of 16.

Next weekend's Super Regionals will feature the 16 group winners from the tournament's first weekend. Each of the eight pairs will play a three-game series to determine the eight College World Series participants. Oklahoma, Stony Brook, Baylor and TCU also advanced to the round of 16 on Monday.

Trailing Vanderbilt by four runs after seven, the Wolfpack stormed back with three runs in the eighth and three in the ninth -- the big blow coming on a go-ahead two-run single by Tarran Senay.

Of the 31 first-round picks in Monday night's Draft, only one saw the field in the NCAA Tournament on Monday.

Stony Brook center fielder Travis Jankowski -- who went 1-for-4 with two runs, two walks and an RBI -- went No. 44 overall to the Padres. He is hitting .417 this season. Before the Draft, Jankowski was ranked No. 43 among available players by MLB.com's Jonathan Mayo.

For the most part, it was a day for the higher seeds, which won five of the six contests. Oklahoma, a No. 2 seed, needed to knock off Appalachian State twice in order to secure a victory in the double-elimination format, and it did so.

The lone exception to the success of the higher seeds was Stony Brook, which became the only No. 4 seed to advance to the tournament's second weekend with a 10-6 win over UCF.
