Bellatti returns from DL as Rays DFA Teaford

Andriese, 26th man for twin bill, sent back to Triple-A after start

KANSAS CITY -- Rays reliever Andrew Bellatti was reinstated off the disabled list following Tuesday's doubleheader.

To make room for Bellatti on the roster, Everett Teaford was designated for assignment. In addition, Matt Andriese, who was recalled from Triple-A Durham to be the Rays' 26th man for Tuesday's doubleheader, was returned to Durham.

Bellatti (right shoulder tendinitis) had been on the DL since June 12, and he will be used in long relief.

Andriese started for the Rays in the second game of Tuesday's split doubleheader and allowed one run on four hits and three walks while striking out five in 4 2/3 innings in the 7-1 loss. The Rays also dropped the first game, 9-5.

Teaford, whose contract was selected by the Rays on July 4, pitched in both games of the doubleheader.

"[Teaford] does a really good job," Rays manager Kevin Cash said. "Awesome teammate, pitches in any role you need him in. ... For his sake, I hope he gets picked up [by another Major League team]. If he doesn't, selfishly, we'd be happy to have him because we know we can call on him again."
