Carpino offers three messages to fans on Presidents' Day

ANAHEIM -- In the spirit of Presidents' Day, the Angels' own president, John Carpino, had three messages for the fan base heading into Spring Training:

• "The 2015 season promises to be an exciting year for our fans. Coming off a year with the best record in baseball -- and with the best player in baseball -- we once again expect to be World Series contenders.

• "Our pitching staff is talented and deep. Led by Jered Weaver and Garrett Richards at the top of the rotation and Huston Street and Joe Smith in the bullpen, we have a talented and deep pitching staff. Young pitchers like Andrew Heaney and Nick Tropeano also add depth to the back of our rotation and will provide stability for years to come. On the offensive side, we expect to be near the top of the league, as we were last season. In addition to 2014 AL MVP Mike Trout and three-time MVP Albert Pujols, we return All-Star shortstop Erick Aybar, right fielder Kole Calhoun, 16-game winner Matt Shoemaker and have added Matt Joyce to help anchor our lineup.

• "Our entire organization is committed to putting a championship product on the field every night. Winning 98 games and our sixth division championship in the past 11 years only strengthens our desire to reach the ultimate goal -- holding up another World Series trophy. In regards to our stadium, we continue to take a long-term view and explore all of our options to ensure that we have certainty for our fans and the team's future."
