Grandal homers, but Inciarte hits walk-off single in 10th

PHOENIX -- Ender Inciarte's one-out single in the 10th inning helped the D-backs walk-off the Dodgers, 4-3, on Friday night in the first of a three-game series at Chase Field.

The winning rally started when pinch-hitter Cliff Pennington drew a one-out walk from J.P. Howell (0-1), advanced to second on a wild pitch and stole third base. After a walk to A.J. Pollock, Inciarte delivered a grounder down the first-base line. More >

"I was just trying to hit the ball hard," Inciarte said. "He's a sinker guy so it's not a good idea to be trying to hit fly balls against him so I was trying to hit the ball hard and I hit it down the first-base line and it worked for us."

The D-backs grabbed a 3-0 lead on a Paul Goldschmidt homer in the third, but the Dodgers got a solo homer from Yasmani Grandal in the fourth and a two-run double by Jimmy Rollins in the fifth to tie things up.

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Goldy goes yard: Goldschmidt hit his first home run of the year in the third when he smacked a three-run homer off Brett Anderson that landed in the pool area beyond the wall in right-center.
