Reddick exits vs. Mariners with illness
OAKLAND -- A's right fielder Josh Reddick departed Saturday's 8-3 loss to the Mariners after just two innings with an illness.
"We'll see how he's doing tomorrow," manager Bob Melvin said, "but enough to where he had to come out of the game, and it's tough to get him out of a game."
Reddick struck out in his only at-bat before being replaced in right field by Jason Pridie to begin the third inning. Pridie finished 0-for-2.
Oakland is home to a crowded outfield at the moment, but injuries to Coco Crisp (neck) and Sam Fuld (back), along with the latest news on Reddick, has opened opportunities for the likes of Pride and youngsters Tyler Ladendorf and Jake Smolinski.
Ladendorf pinch-hit for Pridie in the ninth inning Saturday and singled, marking his first hit since being recalled from Triple-A Nashville on Tuesday. Smolinski started in left field and was hitless in three at-bats.
