A's unveil Phoenix Muni logo for Spring Training

Marks 33rd and Final Spring at Venue Before Team Returns to Mesa in 2015

PHOENIX, Ariz. - The Oakland Athletics today unveiled a new logo to commemorate their 33rd and final Spring Training at Phoenix Municipal Stadium. The A's will return to their previous spring home in Mesa next year. Last March, the team and the City of Mesa reached a 20-year agreement, which also includes two five-year options that could extend the contract to 2044.

After relocating to Oakland from Kansas City in 1968, the Athletics spent their first Spring Training in Bradenton, Fla. before moving to Arizona the following season. The A's trained in Mesa from 1969-78 and spent three springs in Scottsdale from 1979-81 before relocating to Phoenix for the 1982 Spring Training season.

The 2014 A's christen their Cactus League schedule Wednesday, Feb. 26 with a 1:05 p.m. game against the Giants in Scottsdale at 1:05 p.m. MST.   Oakland's home opener at Phoenix Muni comes the following day when it faces the Brewers Feb. 27 at 1:05 p.m. MST.
