Yeison Asencio named Texas League Player of the Week

San Antonio left fielder Yeison Asencio has been named the Double-A Texas League Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday.

Asencio, 25, was 11-for-24 in six games during his award-winning week with three doubles, two home runs and 12 RBIs and five runs scored. The week started with a two-homer, six-RBI game against Tulsa and included a four-hit, four-RBI game.

Asencio is hitting .293 on the season with eight homers and 44 RBIs. He has a .326 on-base percentage and a .424 slugging percentage.

Asencio also won a Texas League Player of the Week award in May of the 2014 season.

There was one move in the organization Monday, left-handed reliever Brandon Fry going from low Single-A Fort Wayne to short-season Single-A Tri-City.

TRIPLE-A EL PASO (47-48): SACRAMENTO 5, Chihuahuas 4 - El Paso didn't have a hit until rehabbing catcher Tim Federowicz singled to ignite a four-run eighth. 1B Cody Decker (.267) was 1-for-4 with a two-run double to raise his RBI count to 59 on the season. RHP Bryan Rodriguez allowed five runs on eight hits and a walk with two strikeouts in five innings in his first start since being promoted from Double-A. RHP Aaron Northcraft (9.00 ERA) hit a batter with two strikeouts in two scoreless innings.

DOUBLE-A SAN ANTONIO (41-53): Frisco 4, MISSIONS 3 -- Starting RHP Dennis O'Grady (3.94) allowed one run on three hits and three walks with five strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings. RHP Cody Hebner (0.00) allowed a walk with a strikeout in an otherwise perfect inning. RHP Michael Dimock (2.45) allowed two runs on three hits, including a home run, with a strikeout in an inning. RHP Tayron Guerrero (1-5, 2.97) allowed a homer in the ninth to take the loss. 1B Luis Domoromo (.233) was 2-for-4 with a triple, a steal, a RBI and two runs scored. CF Alberth Martinez (.274) was 2-for-5 with two RBIs. DH-3B Duanel Jones (.241) was 2-for-4.

HIGH SINGLE-A LAKE ELSINORE (38-56): Storm 7, MODESTO 6 - 3B Gabriel Quintana (.253) was 3-for-5 with his ninth homer and two RBIs. RF Nick Schulz (.245) had his 21st double and 10th homer in five at-bats. SS Chase Jensen (.292) was 3-for-4 with a run scored. DH Ryan Miller (.295) was 2-for-5 with a double and a run. Starting RHP Matthew Shepherd (5.50 ERA) allowed five runs on eight hits with three strikeouts in 4 1/3 innings. RHP Genison Reyes (2-3, 3.90) allowed two hits in a scoreless inning to get the win. RHP Jason Jester (4.15) allowed a hit with a strikeout in a scoreless inning to get his third save.

LOW SINGLE-A FORT WAYNE (46-47): DAYTON 1, TinCaps 0 - Starting LHP Thomas Dorminy (7-7, 3.75 ERA) suffered the loss despite allowing only a run on two hits and three walks with five strikeouts in six innings. LHP Kyle McGrath (2.42) allowed a hit with two strikeouts in two scoreless innings. LF Edwin Moreno (.297) had a double in three at-bats.

SHORT-SEASON SINGLE-A TRI-CITY (17-15): Salem-Keizer 8, DUST DEVILS 5 - 1B Ty France (.277), from San Diego State, was 3-for-5 with a RBI and a run scored. 3B Carlos Belen (.202) was 2-for-5 with his first homer and two RBIs. 2B Mitch Morales (.333) was 2-for-4 with a double. Starting LHP Jose Castillo (3.74 ERA) allowed three runs on five hits in three innings. RHP Trevor Megill (2.25) gave up two hits with three strikeouts in two scoreless innings. LHP Jerry Keel (3.14) allowed two runs on four hits with two strikeouts in two innings. RHP Louis Distasio (1-1, 4.22) allowed two runs on two hits and two walks in one-third of an inning to suffer the loss.

ARIZONA ROOKIE PADRES (10-14): Indians 5, PADRES 0 - Starting RHP Starling Ynfante (0-4, 6.85 ERA) allowed only a run on five hits and a walk with five strikeouts in six innings, but suffered the loss.

DOMINICAN SUMMER LEAGUE PADRES (18-25): Padres 9, ORIOLES 3 - RF Luis Asuncion (.220) was 3-for-4 with two doubles, a triple, three RBIs and two runs scored as the DSL Padres eclipsed their win total for all of the 2014 season. DH Felix Suarez (.148) was 2-for-5 with a double and two runs scored. Starting RHP Starlin Cordero (5.85 ERA) allowed one unearned run on three hits and two walks with two strikeouts in four innings. RHP Juan Arias (5-0, 3.10) allowed a hit with a strikeout in two scoreless innings to get the win.
