#ASGWorthy: Frazier's lasers keep piling up

Reds third baseman's 10 homers lead NL, offer powerful case for Midsummer Classic

Todd Frazier is going deep to prove he's #ASGWorthy. Frazier, the National League home run leader with 10, drove a solo shot in Cincinnati's 7-2 loss to Pittsburgh on Thursday night. Frazier, the Reds' third baseman, is bidding to make a return to the All-Star Game and perhaps the Home Run Derby.

Last year, in Frazier's first trip to the Midsummer Classic, he advanced to the finals of the Home Run Derby and lost to Yoenis Cespedes. Frazier came off the bench and walked in his only All-Star plate appearance, and he may be saving his best for the home fans in Cincinnati.

Frazier, who set personal bests with 29 home runs and 80 RBIs last season, may be well on his way to new landmarks. The 29-year-old had 19 RBIs in his first 27 games and he's slugging .587 this season, which is more than 100 points better than his career average (.459) to this point.

Frazier, a 1998 Little League World Series champ and a third-place finisher in the National League's Rookie of the Year Award balloting in 2012, is just starting to find his stride in the big leagues. And if the hometown fans have their say, Frazier could be lining up for the NL at Great American Ball Park in the All-Star Game.
