Braves announce plans for The Battery Atlanta

The Braves have taken another step toward providing a glimpse of what will be available within The Battery Atlanta, the mixed-use development that will provide year-round dining and entertainment options at SunTrust Park, which is set to open at the start of the 2017 season.

Along with announcing on Tuesday afternoon that this area will be named The Battery Atlanta, the Braves revealed some of the restaurants that will be part of the development. They include Antico Pizza, Cru Food and Wine Bar, Tomahawk Taproom featuring Fox Bros. Bar-B-Q, Superica and a steak house concept with chef Linton Hopkins.

"We believe that The Battery Atlanta will be the preeminent sports, lifestyle and entertainment destination in America," Braves chairman and CEO Terry McGuirk said. "This development will bring an energy to the area that will provide our guests with top-notch shopping, dining and living options."

While Antico is regarded by many as the best pizza joint in Atlanta, Fox Bros. has developed a similar highly-respected reputation among the city's Bar-B-Q fans. Top chefs Ford Fry and Linton Hopkins will add to the diversity of the dining options that will be available within The Battery. Hopkins owns Holeman and Finch, a popular Atlanta restaurant that already features its famous hamburgers inside Turner Field. Hopkins will now add to his collection of restaurants by opening a steak house that will be located outside the stadium at SunTrust Park.

Fry's contribution will come in the form of Superica, a Tex-Mex restaurant, which will provide a laid-back, South Texas style that the accomplished chef attempts to bring to each of his many restaurants.

The Battery Atlanta will also include an Omni Hotel, The Roxy Theatre, which will provide concert options, residential properties and multiple retail outlets, which have not yet been announced.
