"Be Royal Fan Express" to debut Saturday
Royals-Branded Bus Brings Fans from Topeka to Yankees-Royals Series Opener on First of Seven Scheduled Trips
KANSAS CITY, MO (June 6, 2014) - Kansas City Royals fans in Topeka, Kan., will help christen the new "Be Royal Fan Express presented by FOX Sports Kansas City" by traveling to Kauffman Stadium tomorrow for the second game of a four-game series between the Royals and New York Yankees. The Topeka trip marks the first of seven trips scheduled to bring fans from across the Midwest to Kauffman Stadium this summer.
FOX Sports Kansas City announcer Rex Hudler took a turn driving the bus around the Truman Sports Complex on Thursday and plans to meet Fan Express travelers when they arrive at Kauffman Stadium on Saturday.
The Royals and FOX Sports Kansas City are partnering with select Royals Radio Network affiliates this summer on a contest in which fans in designated markets will have the opportunity to win a complimentary bus pass, which will allow them to travel to Kauffman Stadium on the Be Royal branded bus, and receive a ticket to the Royals game. Each pass will also include a game program, FOX Sports Kansas City -branded Royals jersey, Royals hat and bottled water provided by Hy-Vee.
Approximately one week leading up to each designated game, the respective Royals Radio Network affiliate will run a daily "sounder" contest during their morning and/or afternoon drive-time programs and listeners will have the opportunity to call into the station to win. Specific contest details will be announced by the respective affiliates prior to each contest.
In addition, the Royals and FOX Sports Kansas City will also provide 20 complimentary passes on each trip for a community or military group. The Topeka trip will include a group of military members stationed at Fort Riley Army Base.
