Bernie Brewer's Facebook Chat

Bernie Brewer is fast becoming one of the most recognized mascots in Baseball. He recently sat down for a revealing chat, which covered everything from skid burns to custom keyboards. Each question below was asked by a fan via the Brewers and MLBFanCave Facebook pages. Thanks for participating!

Patrick Hughes: Do you ever get hot in that uniform Bernie?

Bernie Brewer (BB): Which uniform? You mean my jersey? Or my lederhosen that I wear on Retro Fridays?

Kevin Briggs: Do you ever get skid burns going down the homer slide?BB: No, but I go through lots of pairs of pants! Thank goodness for my friend and our equipment manager, TonyMigliaccio!

Sergio Valadez: Do you have pre game ritual, Are you superstitious? I'm pulling for the Brew Crew!

BB: I like to walk through the concourses and parking lots to visit with fans—that always energizes me on gamedays. I also have been in the habit of shooting off fireworks and sliding down the slide before the Brewerscome up to bat in the 1st inning!

Randy Stern: What do you miss about old County Stadium?

BB: I loved sliding into my mug!

Sun Stevens: Aside from your job with the Brew Crew, are there any other positions I could apply for out there that let meslide into a giant mug of beer as part of my job description?

BB: Hmmm…not that I am aware of.

Sergio Valadez Are you a Packer fan?

BB: Of course! And they are fans of the Brewers too! My friend Jermichael Finley was just here on Saturday!

Di Lanh Nguyen: What's your favorite beer?

BB: Miller Lite and I always make sure to drink responsibly!

BB: Well, I’ve been friends with Brat, Polish and Italian the longest, but Hot Dog has been smokin’ them thisyear!

Ryan Wagner: Are you really, in fact, a brewer? If so, what kind of beer do you brew? Ales, porters, lagers?

BB: Hi Ryan! I’m what you might call a home brewer! I don’t necessarily brew beer, but I like to brew fun, passion and memories at the ballpark!

Joe Basile: Is it hard to type with those big plushy fingers?

BB: I’ve got my special keyboard! See the photo above!

Armando Morales Lundstrom: You are one of my favorite mascots! Do you enjoy sliding after every win or homerun? or evenif the brewers lose do you enjoy the game?

BB: I love sliding, it always means good things. Losses make me sad, but it is always good to know there isanother game right around the corner!

Colin Sabean: Bernie, will we see you bust this out at some point this year?

BB: I am not a very good dancer. If I taught you how to “Bernie”, it would more likely be how to slide like a pro!

Mike O'Hara: Hey Bernie! Been too long my friend...so I am having problems with Wally the Green Monstah again. AnyBrewer advice as to how to put this guy in his place? Thanks! Next time I'm in "The Good Land" the beers are on me. Cheers.

BB: We’ve had some friendly mascot competitions (like who can get the most followers on Twitter—I amwinning!), but he’s generally a good guy. What seems to be your issue? Cheers!

Jessica P Gierke: Do you have any rituals that you do before each game to get yourself pumped up?

BB: I like to walk through the concourses and parking lots to visit with fans—that always energizes me on gamedays. I also have been in the habit of shooting off fireworks and sliding down the slide before the Brewerscome up to bat in the 1st inning!

Lisa Maike Knoll Bernie, when are you going to influence the corporate powers that be to BRING BACK THE STEIN???

BB: I miss my stein but the setup I have now is pretty cool, too! I love my Kalahari Splash Zone!

BB: Thomas M Ryan III when are you going to bring your friend roscoe to miller park for a trip down your slideI will have to get my people to set up a meeting with his people! Go Admirals!

Lisa Frymark: I hope they give Bernie a laptop with big keys, because he'll have a hard time typing otherwise. :p

BB: See the photo I just posted above for a better look at my keyboard!

Ashley Duke: hay Bernie what r u doing, and hope u r having fun trying to type on the keypad, and nice peanuts next to u,and too bad that they are not Brewer's peanuts

I usually hate off days, but today I am happy to be chatting with all of you!

Thomas Becker what is starting pay to watch games and slide on home runs? how good is your job security? Lol

BB: I don’t get paid, I just get the best seat in the house for all home games (and some concerts, too!).

Wendy Gilbert Is the suite air conditioned or do you sweat a lot on hot summer days?

BB: Yes, it is air-conditioned, but I still work up a sweat while sliding down my slide and entertaining fans!

Jason Anschutz: Why does the pitching staff have a purple suitcase that they roll out to the bull pen before the game? Couldhave a more manly suitcase!

BB: This is something the players do to have fun with the rookies—the more embarrassing the better! Everyone has topay their dues.

BB: Well, my computer, a TV and radio to keep up with all of the games, a stocked mini-fridge and a comfy couch!

Kenny Tyson: Are the Brewers legitimate World Series contenders? They didn't look great versus the Phillies

BB: I believe we have one of the best teams in baseball! We still have a ways to go but I honestly believe we cancompete with any team, especially with the amazing fan support cheering them on!

Mary Gleason: Is the water cold or hot when you slide??

BB: It’s cool and refreshing on hot days and nice and warm on chilly days; I hope to turn it into a hot tub this fall!

Kim Lewandowski: What does Bernie plan on doing once baseball season is over?

BB: I get ready for Brewers On Deck and stay in shape by shoveling snow around the ballpark. I also enjoysledding, since it is so much like sliding. Old Brewers highlights also help bridge the gap!Thomas Becker: why dont u slide down for every run scored? How long would it take u for a grand slam to go 4 times in arow?

BB: We have scored 345 runs at home this year and there have been 89 home runs; that would be adding a lotmore slides!

Debbie Sittig: Does Benie favor one of the racing sausages over the others?

BB: Well, I’ve been friends with Brat, Polish and Italian the longest, but Hot Dog has been smokin’ them thisyear!

Steven Mologousis: Do you like the slide at Miller Park or County Stadium better?
