Best Father/Son Moments in MLB History

Today is a day where we celebrate the impact that our fathers have had on our lives. As is true with many baseball fans, some of our favorite memories with our fathers happened in or around the game of baseball. Our game has seen many of these moments actually take place with some of our Major Leaguers.

Here are my top three Father/Son moments in MLB history:

1. Back-to-back Griffeys

Ken Griffey Sr. and Ken Griffey Jr. hit back-to-back home runs in a game against the Angels on September 14, 1990. They are still the only father/son duo in MLB history to homer in the same game (much less back-to-back!).

2. Cano pitches to Cano

Robinson Cano’s father Jose pitched to him for the 2011 Home Run Derby. Jose remained relatively stoic until his son launched a homer deep to right center. He exploded with joy as his son jumped into his arms in celebration.

3. Ripkens and Sons

Cal Ripken Sr. is the only manager is the history of MLB to manage two of his sons at the same time in the majors. In 1987, he managed both his future Hall of Famer son Cal Jr. and Billy with the Orioles.

Those are some of the greatest moments shared between fathers and sons in the Majors, but we want to know what your favorite baseball memories with your fathers are. Tweet @MLBFanCave describing your favorite baseball moments with your Dad.
