Blanks shrugs off plunkings in LA

SAN FRANCISCO -- It was a hitless Friday night for Padres outfielder Kyle Blanks -- at the plate and in terms of getting plunked by a pitch.

Blanks, who was added to the roster on Sunday when Carlos Quentin started his eight-game suspension, was hit three times in the final two games of the Padres' series in Los Angeles.

While some insinuated that the Dodgers -- who were swept in the three-game series -- might be seeking some retribution for Quentin's role in Zack Greinke's broken left collar bone sustained during a benches-clearing incident on April 11 -- Blanks said he could care less.

"Everyone has asked me about it. But no ball that hit me hit me square," Blanks said.

Blanks was hit by a pitch on Tuesday and then twice on Wednesday -- both coming after he hit a home run off Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw.

"The way I look at it was I got on first base. And as long as it doesn't hit me in the face, I'm fine," Blanks said.
