Blue Jays call up Santos from Triple-A Buffalo

TORONTO -- The Blue Jays announced on Saturday that they'd selected the contract of reliever Sergio Santos from Triple-A Buffalo and would make a corresponding roster move on Sunday.

Santos, 31, was designated for assignment and cleared waivers in late July after struggling through 24 games with Toronto, posting an 0-2 record with a 7.78 ERA.

The right-hander has gone 1-0 with a pair of saves, while allowing no earned runs over 10 2/3 innings (11 appearances) since joining the Bisons. He's given up three hits and six walks while recording 16 strikeouts.

Over three seasons with the Blue Jays, he made 59 relief appearances and went 1-4 with a 4.83 ERA and eight saves.
