Blue Jays' charity auction a huge success

TORONTO -- The Blue Jays Care Foundation raised $270,216 on Thursday night during its annual Charity Broadcast Auction.

Fans were able to call in during the broadcast of the Blue Jays-Angels game to bid on Blue Jays packages, experiences and fan packs.

All funds raised from the auction will help kids get involved in baseball, build safe spaces in which they can play and support organizations dedicated to improving the lives of Canadian children.

The top-selling items included a round-trip trip for two to the 2015 MLB All-Star Game ($7,500), a trip for two on a Blue Jays road trip ($7,500) and a foodie feast with Aaron Sanchez and Marcus Stroman ($6,000).

Other options up for grabs included VIP attendance for four at the 2015 Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame Induction Class Ceremony; a meeting with Blue Jays vice president of baseball operations and general manager, Alex Anthopoulos; and the opportunity to be a guest of Blue Jays catcher Russell Martin at Rogers Centre to play MLB 15: The Show on PS4 on the Rogers Centre video screen.
