Bautista dismisses injury as minor leg cramp

Blue Jays starter exits after grounding out in eighth, says he'll be ready to play in the finale

TORONTO -- A leg cramp -- nothing more -- forced Jose Bautista from the game in the eighth inning of the Blue Jays' 3-2 loss to the Phillies on Tuesday.

Bautista hit an inning-ending grounder to shortstop and almost immediately pulled up as he headed down the first-base line. The 34-year old grabbed his right hamstring before turning and limping off the field.

"Just a little cramp. If i would've ran it out, I probably would've strained it, but I think I did the right thing," Bautista said after the game. "I'll be ready to go tomorrow."

Bautista tweeted from his Twitter account shortly after the game that he was dealing with a leg cramp, and he reiterated that to reporters.

Tweet from @JoeyBats19: Tough loss tonight, on to the next one. For those of you who actually care it was just a cramp. I expect to be in there tomorrow. #GoJays

He was the second Blue Jay to leave the game. Devon Travis exited after the second inning with what the club called left shoulder irritation.

After Bautsita missed time earlier this year with a right shoulder injury, the team was no doubt relieved that its star player wasn't seriously hurt on the play.

Bautista is hitting .231 with 21 homers and 66 RBIs in 94 games.
