Blue Jays Pair Scheduled for Surgery

TORONTO BLUE JAYS RHP DREW HUTCHISON and RHP DUSTIN McGOWAN are both scheduled to undergo surgery on Thursday August 9, 2012.

HUTCHISON, 21, will have Tommy John surgery performed by Dr. James Andrews on Thursday August 9 in Pensacola Florida. The Lakeland, Florida native was in his rookie season for the Blue Jays having posted a 5-3 record with a 4.60 ERA in 11 starts. Approximate recovery time is one year.

McGOWAN, 30, will visit Dr. James Andrews on Wednesday August 8 and is currently scheduled for arthroscopic shoulder surgery to further evaluate the right shoulder joint on Thursday, August 9. The Savannah, Georgia native has previously had shoulder surgeries performed in 2008 and 2010.
