Watson spent parts of the first 14 seasons of his 19-year Major League career with the Houston Astros (1966-79). The two-time All-Star batted .297 while with Houston (second among Astros hitters all-time) and ranks among the top 10 in almost every significant Astros career hitting category. In 1975 he led all Astros hitters with a .324 batting average, 157 hits and 85 RBI, and two seasons later (1977) he tallied a then-franchise record 110 RBI. After leaving the club in 1979, Watson played for the Boston Red Sox (1979), New York Yankees (1980-82) and Atlanta Braves (1982-84). Following his playing career, Watson became the first African-American general manager in Major League history when he was named the Astros GM in 1993. Three years later he became the first African-American GM to win a World Series while with the Yankees. In 2010, Watson retired as MLB's vice president of rules and on-field operations.

Sparks enters his third season as the Astros radio color commentator after being named to the post on Feb. 13, 2013. Prior to joining the Astros radio broadcast team, Sparks served as a pre- and postgame analyst for Astros television games over several seasons following a 17-year playing career. A knuckleballer in his playing days, Sparks pitched in the Major Leagues in parts of nine seasons (1995-2004) for the Brewers, Angels, Tigers, A's and Diamondbacks. His best season came in 2001 for Detroit when he went 14-9 with a 3.65 ERA and a Major League-best eight complete games while tallying 232.0 innings pitched.
