Braves and Cubs complete trade

Atlanta acquires right-handed pitcher Arodys Vizcaino and three international bonus pool slots

ATLANTA, Ga. - The Atlanta Braves and Chicago Cubs completed a trade today, as the Braves have acquired right-handed pitcher Arodys Vizcaino and three of the Cubs' international bonus pool slots (No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4), in exchange for infielder Tommy La Stella and the Braves' fourth international bonus pool slot.

Vizcaino, 24, was acquired by the Braves in a trade with the New York Yankees in December 2009 and made his Major League debut for Atlanta in August 2011.

The 6-foot, 190-pound righty pitched in 17 games for Atlanta in 2011, but then underwent "Tommy John" surgery on his right elbow in March 2012. He was dealt to the Cubs in July 2012 and missed two seasons (2012-13) after his elbow surgery. All 22 of his career outings have been in relief and he owns 21 strikeouts in 22.1 innings pitched.

Vizcaino made his return in 2014 and worked in 40 minor league games (all in relief) for the Cubs, including 17 games at Triple-A Iowa. His overall 2014 minor league totals included a 3.51 ERA and 42 strikeouts in 41 innings pitched.   Vizcaino worked in five games for the Cubs in September and allowed three runs on five hits with four strikeouts in five innings pitched.

La Stella, 25, made his MLB debut for the Braves in 2014, when he played in 93 games and posted a .251 batting average with one home run and 31 RBI.
