Braves Announce Tentative 2013 Schedule
Atlanta scheduled to play 20 interleague games; Braves will open and close the season at home against Philadelphia
Today the Atlanta Braves and Major League Baseball released their tentative schedule for the 2013 season. A finalized schedule with start times will be released at a later date in the offseason.
The Braves open the regular season on Monday, April 1, at Turner Field, with a three-game series versus the Philadelphia Phillies (April 1-4), before playing host to the Chicago Cubs for a three-game series, April 5-7.
Atlanta opens the road portion of the 2013 campaign with a three-game set at Miami beginning on Monday, April 8, against the Marlins (April 8-10), then travel to Washington, D.C., for a three-game set against the Nationals, April 12-14.
The Braves play a total of eight interleague series (20 total interleague games), with four series (10 games) taking place at Turner Field. The Braves open the interleague portion of the 2013 campaign with a two-game series at home against the Kansas City Royals, April 16-17. They will also play host to the Minnesota Twins (May 20-22), the Toronto Blue Jays (May 29-30), and the Cleveland Indians (August 27-29). Atlanta will play four road interleague series, including making its first-ever trip to Kansas City to play the Royals, June 25-26. The Braves’ other American League road opponents include the Detroit Tigers (April 26-28), the Toronto Blue Jays (May 27-28), and the Chicago White Sox (July 19-21).
The 2013 home schedule includes 10 games each against National League East Division rivals New York, Philadelphia and Washington, and nine games against the Miami Marlins. The Braves host a three-game series against the Marlins over the July 4th holiday (July 2-4), and conclude the home portion of the 2013 campaign with a four-game series against Philadelphia, September 26-29.
The overall home slate features 39 games against National League East Division opponents, 16 games against the N.L. Central Division, 16 against the N.L. West Division and 10 against the American League.
In addition to the regular-season schedule, the Braves are slated to play one exhibition game at the Club’s Double-A stadium, Trustmark Park, on Saturday, March 30. Trustmark Park is located in Pearl, Miss., and the game will pit the Braves’ Major League club against the “Future Stars” (top prospects of the Braves farm system).
