Brewers' annual 'Spring Madness' underway

Fans asked to pop prize-filled balloons distributed throughout Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE -- The Brewers launched their annual "Spring Madness" promotion on Tuesday with a balloon-popping party.

Beginning at 5 a.m. CT, more than 500 helium balloons were tied at a variety of Milwaukee locations and landmarks, including Miller Park. Inside each was a voucher for two tickets to a game during next week's Brewers-Pirates series, and some balloons contained vouchers for other prizes, from autographed baseballs to game-used jerseys to a night in a ballpark suite.

The Brewers asked their fans to take only one balloon apiece. As in past years, when fans went on the hunt for lawn gnomes, the prizes were expected to be claimed quickly.

For fans who missed the balloon-popping, Spring Madness features 50 percent off select tickets for the May 13-15 series and discounts on some concession items. All domestic draft, 16-ounce beers will be $4, small Pepsi products and hot dogs will be $1 and nachos will be $4.
