Harper sets NL record for most All-Star votes

WASHINGTON -- Bryce Harper has received more votes to play in the All-Star Game than any other player in National League history.

With 9,224,370 votes to his name as of Tuesday's ballot update, Harper surpassed Giants catcher Buster Posey's 2012 total (7,621,370).

Harper's 5.4 Wins Above Replacement entering Tuesday's play was the best in baseball and he ranked second in total bases (166), home runs (24), RBIs (57), walks (54) and runs created (79).

Giancarlo Stanton, with 4,824,989 votes is the next closest outfielder.

Yunel Escobar is the only other Nationals player in the top-five at his position. With 1,693,743 votes, he ranks fifth among NL second basemen.

Fans can cast their votes for starters at and all 30 club sites -- on their computers, tablets and smartphones -- using the 2015 Esurance MLB All-Star Game Ballot until Thursday, July 2, at 11:59 p.m. ET. For the first time, voting is exclusively online, where fans may submit up to 35 ballots.
