Showalter ejected from finale vs. Astros

HOUSTON -- Orioles manager Buck Showalter was ejected from Baltimore's 3-2 win during Thursday's series finale against the Astros following Ryan Flaherty's strikeout to end the top of the second inning.

With his team up, 1-0, on two-time American League Pitcher of the Month Dallas Keuchel, Showalter was seen jawing with home-plate umpire Brian Gorman regarding the strike zone. At one point, Showalter came out to home plate to illustrate his point.

"My mother probably thought it was bad; we had a great point," Showalter said. "They were obviously balls. This guy [Keuchel] certainly doesn't need any help, that's for sure."

It was Showalter's first ejection of the season and his club responded, reeling off a win to snap a five-game losing skid.

"Anytime things aren't going well you think anything might change the karma a little bit," Showalter said.
