Call at home confirmed after O's challenge

CHICAGO -- The Orioles lost a challenge on a play at the plate that ended the top half of the fifth inning against the White Sox on Monday night.

Baltimore, which increased its lead to 2-0 on Steve Pearce's double, got a single to follow from Adam Jones, and a hustling Pearce tried to score on the play. Pearce slid into catcher Tyler Flowers, and home-plate umpire Hal Gibson ruled that Pearce was out on the tag.

Manager Buck Showalter came out to argue and, after a review, the call on the field was confirmed.
