Casey Kelly makes third start for Double-A San Antonio

Right-hander Casey Kelly allowed two runs on five hits and a walk with two strikeouts Wednesday night in his third start for Double-A San Antonio (26-33) in a 5-3 loss at Frisco.

Kelly, 25, who had "Tommy John" elbow reconstruction surgery in the spring of 2013, started the season in the bullpen and is 1-3 overall with a 3.73 earned run average with a save in 17 appearances. He has allowed 31 hits and 15 walks with 23 strikeouts in 31 1/3 innings.

Kelly has a 3.38 ERA in his three starts, allowing 13 hits and six walks with six strikeouts in 13 1/3 innings.

Right-hander Aaron Northcraft (2.78 ERA) followed Kelly and allowed a hit and a walk in two scoreless innings. Left-hander Brandon Alger (3-2, 4.74 ERA) allowed three runs on two hits and two walks without retiring a hitter to take the loss.

Left fielder Alberth Martinez (.272) was 2-for-5 with a double and a RBI. Shortstop Trea Turner (.326) was 2-for-5 with a RBI. First-third baseman Duanel Jones (.333) was 2-for-4 with a double. Designated hitter Yeison Asencio (.291) was 2-for-5.

TRIPLE-A EL PASO (26-31): The Chihuahuas were off Wednesday.

HIGH SINGLE-A LAKE ELSINORE (26-33): HIGH DESERT 16, Storm 3 - CF Auston Bousfield (.321) and C Ryan Miller (.300) each hit solo homers. It was the second homers of the season for both. Starting RHP Zech Lemond (3-3, 4.96 ERA) allowed eight runs on seven hits and four walks in 1 2/3 innings. RHP Jordan Hershiser (6.30 ERA) allowed two hits with a strikeout in 2 1/3 scoreless innings. RHP Cody Hebner allowed six runs on five hits and a hit batter with three strikeouts in 1 1/3 innings.

LOW SINGLE-A FORT WAYNE (25-33): TIN CAPS 4, Kane County 2 - 3B Chase Jensen (.196) hit a decisive three-run homer, his second homer of the season. SS Ruddy Giron (.392) and 1B Trae Santos (.262) were each 2-for-4 with a run scored. LF Franchy Cordero (.225) was 2-for-4. Starting RHP Dinelson Lamet (2-3, 4.62 ERA) allowed two runs on six hits
and two walks with two strikeouts in five innings. LHP Kyle McGrath (3.73 ERA) allowed a hit with two strikeouts in 2 2/3 scoreless innings. RHP Colby Blueberg (1.37 ERA) struck out three in 1 1/3 perfect innings to get his fifth save.

DOMINICAN SUMMER LEAGUE PADRES (7-3): PADRES 5, Reds 4 - Starting LHP duardo Solano (1.13 ERA) allowed a run on two hits and four walks with three strikeouts over four innings. RHP Emmanuel Clase (2.35 ERA) allowed three runs (one earned) on two hits and three walks with two strikeouts in 3 2/3 innings. RHP Juan Arias (2-0, 0.00 ERA) struck out three in 1 1/3 perfect innings to get the win. CF Dayon Olmo (.317) was 2-for-5 with a triple, two RBIs and a run scored. RF Luis Asuncion (.172) was 0-for-2 with two walks and two runs scored.
