Steinberg named president of PawSox
BOSTON -- The Pawtucket Red Sox continued their recent integration of familiar faces from Boston, announcing on Thursday that Dr. Charles Steinberg will become the new club president for the Triple-A team.
Larry Lucchino, the former Red Sox president and CEO who became the chairman of the PawSox last winter, has long considered Steinberg one of his most trusted aides.
Lucchino and Steinberg built a successful history together with the Orioles, Padres and Red Sox, and will now continue their pursuit of finding a new ballpark for the PawSox.
A plan to move the team to Providence fell through in September.
"Working at Fenway Park, we have long admired the fans of Rhode Island," Steinberg said. The opportunity to help enhance the PawSox's community efforts is equally enticing.

Steinberg has been most renowned for his creativity in orchestrating some of the memorable ceremonies that have taken place at Fenway Park over the last decade-plus.
Mike Tamburro, who had been the president of Triple-A Pawtucket for two decades, will stay on as vice chairman.
Aside from Steinberg, Lucchino is also bringing two other co-workers from the Red Sox. Dan Rea III, Lucchino's special assistant in Boston, will serve as senior vice president and general manager of the PawSox. Jeff White, the financial advisor to the president and CEO for the Red Sox, will be the treasurer for Pawtucket.

"Charles and Dan have particular expertise in the fan experience and in community outreach, two essential components of the PawSox's operation. Both have experienced the rabid Rhode Island Red Sox passion, and both are eager to enhance the relationship between the fans and the club.
