New daddy Davis to return on Tuesday

MILWAUKEE -- Chris Davis and his wife, Jill, welcomed a baby girl on Sunday night around 6:15 p.m. ET in Baltimore, and the first baseman will rejoin the Orioles in Milwaukee on Tuesday morning.

It is the couple's first child, as Jill had labor induced on Sunday, with Davis going on the paternity list as a result.

"Everything went well, great," manager Buck Showalter said on Monday morning. "I promised him before we left, I said, 'Listen, don't feel like you have to text me and do this and do that. I'll leave you alone, if i don't hear from you I'll see you Tuesday in Milwaukee'. He said great. Then on the plane [after Sunday's game] I texted him, I said, "I lied. I'm dying to know how everything went.'"

Players can stay on the paternity list up to three days, but Davis will come off early and is expected to play in Tuesday night's game against the Brewers. Steve Pearce got the start at first base on Sunday and Monday in his place.
