Citi Field to host Yoga Day on Aug. 15

WASHINGTON -- In a new, er, twist to their schedule, the Mets have announced that Aug. 15 will be Yoga Day at Citi Field. Fans will have the opportunity to practice yoga on the outfield grass before the 7:10 p.m. ET game against the Pirates, in a one-hour class suitable for all ages.

Instructor Steph Armijo has a background in baseball at the team level, working for the D-backs and Giants, as well as with the Arizona Fall League and MLB Advanced Media. She teaches yoga every week at Citi Field as part of a wellness benefit for employees, and also for the Jackie Robinson Foundation and Harlem RBI.

"This Yoga Day was created to provide a family-friendly summer day at Citi Field," Armijo said. "This is the perfect opportunity for baseball fans that may have thought about trying yoga to get down on the field, where their favorite players will be playing later that day, and stretch and move with hundreds of other yogis."

Tickets to the class are available at mets.com/yoga and include admission to the game as well as that night's postgame concert featuring Ne-Yo.
