Cleveland Indians announce Frozen Diamond Faceoff Fan Fest on Saturday, January 14 beginning at 11am

Meet, Greet & Watch Ohio State & Michigan Practice on The Frozen Diamond

Hockey Themed Activities Led by the Central Collegiate Hockey Association Available for Fans

 

CLEVELAND, OH – The Cleveland Indians today announced The Frozen Diamond Faceoff Fan Fest to take place Saturday, January 14 from 11:00AM – 6:00PM at Progressive Field during Indians Snow Days, presented by KeyBank. Fan Fest serves as a prelude to The Frozen Diamond Faceoff between The Ohio State University Buckeyes and the University of Michigan Wolverines Men’s Ice Hockey teams on Sunday, January 15 beginning at 5:05 p.m. 

 

Five dollar general admission to Indians Snow Days and any skating, tubing or combo tickets on January 14 will grant fans access to meet and greets with Ohio State and Michigan players, select Lake Erie Monsters players, Sully the Mascot, and the Lake Erie Monsters Street Team. Fans can also watch Ohio State vs. Michigan Women’s Club Ice Hockey game and Ohio State and Michigan Men’s Ice Hockey teams practice on The Frozen Diamond.

 

Attendees may also practice their hockey skills with fundamental drills led by The Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) including: “Top Shot” electronic hockey net and tunnel shooting station; “Super Deker” stick handling drills; “Gockey” table hockey and LEM slap shot exercise. Throughout the day the CCHA, OSU, Michigan, hockey teams will hold giveaways and raffles.

 

Fans may also take part in snow tubing and ice skating during Indians Snow Days, presented by KeyBank.

3:00 – 4:00 PM – UM Practice on The Frozen Diamond

4:30 – 5:30 PM – UM Player Signing in Terrace Club

About The Frozen Diamond Faceoff

The Frozen Diamond Faceoff, featuring the historic Ohio State vs. Michigan rivalry, will be the first hockey game in Progressive Field history and the first-ever outdoor college hockey game in the State of Ohio. The Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA)-sanctioned game will be the second of a two-game series between the two schools with the first game being held in Columbus on Friday, January 13, 2012.With Indians Snow Days open Friday, January 13 – Monday, January 16, a fan fest scheduled for Saturday, January 14 and The Frozen Diamond Faceoff on Sunday, January 15, MLK weekend is definitely the weekend to create memories at Indians Snow Days and in the City of Cleveland.

 

About The Frozen Diamond

A new feature of Indians Snow Days, presented by KeyBank (open now through January 16, 2012), The Frozen Diamond is a regulation-sized (200’ x 85’) ice skating rink on the infield at Progressive Field, covering home plate and stretching down the first base line. The Frozen Diamond will be utilized during Indians Snow Days (subject to availability) culminating with the Frozen Diamond Faceoff.
