Kendrick's start moved up in rotation switch
Matzek, who exited last start with cramp, given extra day's rest
SAN DIEGO -- The Rockies have switched the rotation for the next two games, so righty Kyle Kendrick will start Sunday against the Padres and lefty Tyler Matzek will go Monday against the D-backs in the opener of a three-game series at Coors Field.
Matzek (2-0, 2.70 ERA) left Monday's 5-4 victory over the D-backs after five innings because of a cramp in his left hamstring. Matzek had held the D-backs to two runs on five hits, with three strikeouts and three walks. The switch gives Matzek an extra day's rest.

Kendrick (1-3, 8.36 ERA) has had two solid starts, one against the Padres on April 22 (seven innings, four runs, seven hits in a Rockies victory). In the other three, he is 0-3 with a 14.85 ERA. Those include a 10-hit, eight-run, 4 1/3-inning mess against the D-backs on Tuesday night. So the switch has him facing a team he has fared well against for one he hasn't.
