Country star Aldean to play show at Progressive Field

CLEVELAND -- After baseball's All-Star break this summer, the Indians will open the season's second half by bringing a star-studded lineup to Progressive Field. The only difference is that the stars coming to Cleveland will wield guitars instead of bats.

The Indians announced Friday morning that country music star Jason Aldean's 2014 "Burn It Down Tour" will make a stop in its ballpark series at Progressive Field on July 18. The concert -- held in conjunction with Live Nation and Major League Baseball -- will also include Miranda Lambert, Florida Georgia Line and Tyler Farr.

"We're very excited to partner with Live Nation and Major League Baseball to be one of the five ballpark sites participating in the Jason Aldean concert tour this summer," Indians president Mark Shapiro said. "We're fortunate to provide our fans the opportunity to experience some of the best in today's music and entertainment landscape in one of the most unique and memorable settings professional sports has to offer: Progressive Field."

More details about the concert series can be found on Indians.com and MLB.com, and tickets for the show in Cleveland are scheduled to go on sale Feb. 14 at 10 a.m. ET at ticketmaster.com.

Besides Cleveland, Aldean's tour is scheduled to hit Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati, Nationals Park in Washington, D.C., PNC Park in Pittsburgh and Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia this summer. Last year, Aldean played a pair of shows at Fenway Park in Boston and another at Wrigley Field in Chicago.

"Last year was really our first experience of going to play stadiums like that," Aldean said in an interview with MLB.com in January. "To see the atmosphere that surrounded those shows was pretty incredible. It's just a really cool experience, not only for us, but also for the fans who came out to the shows. It's something we wanted to do more of this year."

Aldean's latest album, "Night Train," had a No. 1 debut on Billboard's all-genre Top 200 list and needed only four weeks to earn platinum classification. To date, the 36-year-old Aldean has sold more than 8.5 million albums and has enjoyed a dozen No. 1 country hits. During the 48th Academy of Country Music Awards last year, Aldean took home the Male Vocalist of the Year honor.

Lambert was named the Female Vocalist of the Year and Florida Georgia Line received the New Artist of the Year award during the ACM Awards as well.

While Progressive Field is packed with country music fans July 18, the Indians will be in Detroit to begin the season's second half. Aldean's tour will mark the first concert at Progressive Field since June 2011, when country singers Brad Paisley and Blake Shelton headlined the team's "Indians Music Festival." Prior to that show, the last concert at the stadium was performed by Jimmy Buffett in 1995.
