Russell gets a taste of his natural position

WASHINGTON -- For the first time in 54 games, the Cubs had someone other than Starlin Castro at shortstop.

Addison Russell, who started 39 games at second base since joining the Cubs on April 22, flipped back to his natural position in Chicago's 4-2 win over the Nationals on Saturday.

"It just felt normal," Russell said. "Confidence was up. I was reading the ball off the bat pretty well today, and I made a few plays and turned a double play today. So, it was a good thing today."

Offensively, Russell was 0-for-3 hitting out of the nine-hole. He is batting .241 for the season.

There are no signs that this was anything more than a day off for Castro, a three-time All-Star, who is batting .229 since May 1.
