Maddon will adjust to playing fewer night games at home

MESA, Ariz. -- The Cubs may not play enough night games for Joe Maddon.

"I'm a horrible morning person," the Cubs manager admitted Monday. "Thank God, we don't play at 10 o'clock in the morning."

The Cubs currently have 36 home night games out of the 81 on the schedule with a few start times still to be determined.

"I have to rearrange my mind," Maddon said. "I do like night games, I've always liked night games. The one caveat is that when you're playing at Wrigley Field, regardless of the game time, there are going to be 35,000 to 40,000 people. There's an energy that you can definitely draw from.

"I'm going to have to figure out ways for me, personally, just to wake up mentally early in the day," he said. "I like the pace of the day, I've never been that morning dude. I'm pretty good later in the day."
